The unemployment rate for the construction continued its decline in September, dropping to 11.9% according to the Labor Department Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the construction industry added 5000 jobs in the month of September.

The specialty trade contractor section accounted for 3,800 of the new jobs leading the industry. The employment numbers were a welcome change from recent jobs reports which showed the unemployment rate dropping but due at least in part to workers leaving the industry.

The overall unemployment rate nationally fell to 7.8% in September.
