Registration FAQs: Ohio School Counselor Training in Building & Construction Trades Apprenticeship Career Pathways

This counselor training program was developed by Affiliated Construction Trades Ohio Foundation (ACT Ohio) and TradesFutures in cooperation with the Ohio State Board of Education, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and the Ohio School Counselor Association. School counselors currently working with Ohio students in grades 7-12 whose school counselor license expires on June 30, 2026 or after must complete 4-hours of construction trades apprenticeship training at an approved JATC Apprenticeship Training Center. There is no cost to counselors to attend this training.

What Comes After Registration/Scheduling?
1. Counselors receive an email confirming the date, time, and location of their training session.
2. Next, counselors will receive an email link to set-up your online account in ACT Ohio’s learning-management system. This LMS online dashboard is where all course materials, classroom resources, and certificates of completion are found.
3. After counselors have attended an ACT Ohio training in-person at a JATC, a certificate of completion will be emailed and uploaded to the LMS dashboard. Counselors will provide this completion certificate to their Local Professional Development Committees (LPDCs) for license renewal credit.
