Ohio added 1,300 construction jobs in October 2013, according to a report from the Associated General Contractors of America. The forecast continued a positive trend, as the Buckeye State has added about 4,500 construction jobs in the past three months.

The current total of 175,400 construction workers in the state is down slightly from totals reported in October 2012, however.

Tracking the construction industry is one way some economists attempt to gauge the economic health of the state. The belief is that additional construction jobs can be in response to new homes being built and the expansion of the business sector.
