Days after Ohioans soundly rejected Issue 2, a new group has emerged to attack working families. Ohioans for Workplace Freedom, a coalition of radical, extreme right wing tea party groups and businesses, is circulating petitions to place a “So Called Right to Work” constitutional amendment on the 2012 ballot.

“So Called Right to Work” laws aggressively attack organized labor’s ability to represent working families. These laws allow workers that utilize and benefit from union representation to refuse pay any dues towards supporting those activities. In the past these laws have been aggressively supported by corporate interests including the U.S Chamber of Commerce.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine (R) recently rejected Ohioans for Workplace Freedom wording of their proposed ballot proposal. The group is expected to quickly draft a new proposal and gather the necessary 1,000 signatures and resubmit to the Ohio Attorney General’s office.
